The story holds up, for the most part. Obviously, they have to cut a lot to fit it in the one-hour time span, but it's still following the plot, at least....and not pulling a True Blood (don't get me started on how hard that show is to watch after reading the books). Whatever you do, don't stop reading the books- they pay off in the end, I pinky swear.

Brienne isn't the ugly chick. She's the chick that's bigger than most men.

I'm going to argue that, in fact, Brienne of Tarth is unattractive...both the actress that plays her in the series, and the way she's described in the books:

(from Wikipedia...and the book) Brienne of Tarth: His daughter. An ugly, big and strong maid, often mistaken for a man. Sometimes mocked as Brienne the Beauty. Known as Brienne the Blue during her time in the Renly's Rainbow Guard

Though, this picture of Gwendoline Christie is quite flattering, she is not a traditional beauty in non-glammed-up pics:

I'm not saying she's the best looking woman in the world, but there are many that are MUCH uglier!

Much, MUCH uglier!

I think the actress is very attractive in an unconventional way. The character is totes ugly. Probably not as ugly as she was in the book, but hey, it's TV. Look at Tyrion for fucks sake! He is supposed to be very ugly in the books, but as another of my favorite Podcasts, the Cast of Thrones says, show Tyrion is a tiny Adonis!

Sorry. What I meant was is the story actually still as riveting as you move on in the books. But you just answered that. So thanks

Turns out the reason Bronn is able to belt out a nice tune in the pub before being rudely interupted by that uncultured buffoon The Hound is he was secretly a professional crooner in a former life.

Yup! I'd totally try a hand at midgeting for Peter Dinklage. I've loved him since the Station Agent. Tyrion, the book guy, is supposed to be disfigured....and I'm all set on disfigured guys for the year...lol.

And, don't get me wrong, I LOVE the acting that she's doing...she's spot on for Brienne! I just personally don't find her attractive. To each their own!
