Why did you come here if not for donations.

Cause i am pretty sure you will not get much sympathy from this crowd.

Not sympathy, I just was looking for suggestions. John Galt gave me a good idea so I might try for that. I don't want to beg for money or anything. I'm just trying my damnest to figure out what to do.

Unfortunately they're not that sympathetic, and I've had to ask for money from them before for my situation and it was really shitty. I said I'd pay a rent to stay with them for the period of time up until I start school, but they're iffy about it.

I mentioned before that my former landlord sued me for the damages done to the house i lived in in CT, the pipes froze while I was away and the place flooded.

The discharge is a series of bad circumstances. I was trying to change my rating (Coast Guard) and spent about a year doing the necessary training. However it wasn't approved and I couldn't go back to my old position because I was out of it for so long and would technically have to be retrained. I already had extended my current tour at my unit and by the time I got the news, I had maybe 3 months left in my enlistment (I was going to reenlist after the rating change), so I received an involuntary Honorable Discharge. It was a mess and I tried to fight it throughout and even had a letter of appeal written, but it didn't work out.

You are making more than I am every week by about $100, and I'm a single mom with 2 kids under the age of 4. I'm paying all the bills for my rent, utilities, and my one splurge item, the internet. The only thing that gets me through the year is thinking about income tax returns. (BTW less than 9 months left)

I agree with Craiglist for a cheap car. If it'll get you to your destination then don't spend a lot on it. Then if it breaks down when you get to Boston, who cares, it was practically free.

As for food, if it's needed, there's a thing called "Food Net". They are everywhere here. It's stores that take the nearly expired food and give it to churches to distribute to the public that need it. I do this and I can get loaves of bread, desserts, and even bottles of pepsi or coke.

I would seriously think about selling your furniture. Even if it means putting it on the lawn/driveway and selling it for cheap, you can use that towards the car to get you to Boston. Your credit will be shit soon. I know, I'm going through bankruptcy right now due to my divorce. You won't be able to get a loan for a newer car.

Think about it this way. When you get to Boston you will have a better situation, then you can get new stuff.

Good Luck, keep your head up and try getting a quick job and the car, you can sleep in that. I would if it were an option.

I wish I had a tax return this year, I actually owe 2 grand because I've been collecting unemployment for so long. My credit's already shit, not being able to get loans to help out with a lot of this is part of the problem. I'm thankful at least that I don't have to deal with credit cards anymore. I've been looking around and it seems there's a decent sized cargo van for cheap on craigslist, if I could fit all my stuff in it I could probably just use that to get home. I can probably try to use that couchsurfing service until then if nothing else works out (Anyone here use it before? Seems rather risky).

I just wish the VA had some options, they have temp homes in the Boston area, but I'm not a disabled veteran so can't take advantage of it.

The pipes freezing was not your fault, so how can he sue you for it?? If anything he is responsible being the property owner, not you.... He can't sue you for something you weren't directly responsible for...? Story sounds fishy...

From what you have shared on Red Bar, and some of the posts on here before this thread you just sound like somebody that doesn't have their priorities straight, and doesn't make the best decisions... If your parents won't let you come back to stay with them, then how can they expect their furniture back?

As for your debt, I remember you saying something about you having a girlfriend that made you buy her shit and that's why you are so in debt... You have money for hookas and furry costumes, but you don't have money for a place to live, food or to get your car back...? It sounds like you need to learn some lessons about what is important in life, and how to truly take care of yourself... All your stories have too much of an oh woe is me quality to them, so buck up, grow the fuck up, and learn how to be a man... Not a man-child, but a Man... Life sucks, surviving on your own takes hard work, and you just need to grow up...

Hey I admit I made bad decisions especially with regards to my ex and spending money in general, I'm not trying to make a woe-is-me tale and most of the extra stuff I had I got when I was financially stable. For the past year or so I was basically drifting towards what was able to keep me able, but I decided that the best thing to do was take advantage of the educational benefits I earned in the service, which is what I'll be doing in September.

Edit: The pipes freezing was my responsibility. I forgot to let the water run and there was a bad ice storm while I was away. I can respect my family's reluctance to not let me stay with them (I hope they do allow me though) but I can't pawn off their furniture that they let me borrow, considering some of it has emotional value to my mother especially.

Less than a month ago you were on here posting about how much you love smoking hookas and that everybody should smoke a hookah....

All of your problems didnt' come about in the last two weeks, so like I said you don't have your priorities straight...

Life sucks, get used to it and figure out a way to take care of yourself... A good percentage of us on here are struggling too, but you don't see any of us starting a thread trying to find somebody to help us.... Help yourself... You come into this world alone, and you go out alone... Get your priorities together and grow up....

And I still don't understand how you as a tenant are liable for something the property owner should take care of... Pipes freezing and you get sued because the property floods?? Still doesn't sound right... That's what home owner's insurance is for... I'm not buying the pipes freezing story... You are known for stretching the truth, so I call bullshit on that one!

You were away!! How the fuck were you going to let the water run??? You were supposed to know before you left that there would be a bad ice storms and the pipes would freeze??? I still call bullshit! If you really got sued, you were stupid for not fighting it because you have no way of predicting the future!!!
