I read a couple of studies last semester in my clinical epidemiology class about Endometrial cancer (primary symptom is abnormal bleeding in postmenopausal women, though it can occur in the premenopausal population as well). I wonder if that procedure reduces the risk of this type of cancer. Did your doctor mention anything about this?

Good gravy your lady parts sure are ticking time bombs.

I fixed it. This thread needed some dorkiness and it was down to StandardMan or myself... I stepped up.

One of the first things they do before even considering the surgery is make sure it isn't endometrial cancer or any other type of syndrome or condition that would cause the excessive bleeding. Lots of blood work and 2 different ultrasounds. Yes, she did say it reduces the risk of several cancers.

A friend of mine recently told me she had the same procedure 10 years ago and that she was going to have to have it done again. I was never told that it "wears off" so I assume the technology is better now than it was then.
