First you should definitely try to use a steam vac on the affected area and if you can pull up the carpet to get the rest of the gooey nasty up it would be even better. After you've gotten that shit out try to locate a shop that carries Odor Eliminator, Fresh & Clean | Deodorizers & Fragrances | Interior Care | Car Brite.
The reconditioning guys I know use it to get stink out. It's made some of the nastiest shit I've ever seen come out smelling like whatever the fuck scent they use. Good luck, sir. |

Ozone is the answer.
Odor Removal in Cars with Ozone, Car Odor Remover, Vehicle Odor Eliminator, Remove Odors in Cars, Air-Zone Ozone Generators Look for a car detailer in your area. PS - this often used by grow ops to get rid of weed smells. Interesting fact FYI. ozone for car & residentials |

Try soaking your carpet in vinegar, it will stink like hell till it dries but it might work.

So, Saturday afternoon I finally went to the store and bought some Baking Soda (thanks Bithead). Soon after returning home I got a hard brush and basically dumped a shit ton of baking soda in the affected area and surrounding fabric (more carpeting and the back seats). It left everything a little brighter/whiter...but I didn't mind that at all.
I continued to leave the windows open and spray occasional Febreeze in there. By Monday morning I noticed the smell was still there, but the intensity went down by 80-90%...It's just a faint tiny amount of stink, that you almost have to try to notice before really noticing it....but still, once you do, it is a tiny bit funky.. I'm about to go to the store again, so I'll probably buy some carpet shampoo. I'm hoping that'll take care of the remaining odor...I've also had a few people smell my car, lol, just because I wanted to make sure the smell was truly going away, and it wasn't just me somehow getting used to that shit.

I thought about this, until I opened the bottle of vinegar and remembered how crazy that stuff smells...lol, I'll probably resort to this if shampoo doesn't work, or doesn't work fast enough.
