Remember that the day is not about anyone but the two of you. It doesn't matter what anyone else wants. They are there to celebrate the two of you. You are not obligated to invite anyone (except for immediate family, and even then, you may choose to omit certain people), and you are not obligated to go out of your way to accommodate anyone. Since this is your day, you put your foot down about what you want and what you are willing to accept. You should definitely hire a coordinator for the day of. And you should also be ready for the fact that not everything will be 100% perfect, and that's just the way it goes. But no matter what, it will always be your wedding day, regardless of what happens. You will never have that day again, so enjoy every bit of it, and feel blessed that you have found love, happiness, and someone to share your life with. That is all that matters.

Congratulations, Em!!!

Not everyone will be as excited as you. It doesn't mean that they don't love you, just that they don't care about weddings, or they have their own internal hang ups.

Also, fuck large guest lists. And tell your mom to fuck the hell off. Most of the women I know that have gotten married had their mother's wedding instead of their own.

I'm actually quite lucky, my mom had that experience where her mother-in-law planned the wedding, so she has vowed not to do that to me. And my future mother-in-law said "it's my job to wear beige and blend in."

If I eloped it would break my dads heart. He's been looking forward to walking me down the aisle since I was born.
