Seriously, the whole thing was pretty straight forward if you actually paid attention.
A lot of people aren't good at watching movies. You're right though, it was straightforward.

The whole movie wasn't in a dream. The ending is purposefully ambiguous. You're not supposed to know whether it's in a dream or not, and trying to find out is pointless. Was it all a dream? It's a question without an answer. Ever see Blade Runner? It's like trying to figure out whether Deckard is a robot or not. It's designed so that there's no answer.

If you want to get really picky about it, though, the whole movie is both entirely a dream and entirely reality. It's sort of like a Schrodinger's cat deal, but for movies.

I watched it a couple of days ago, and went into it expecting Third-Matrix levels of confusion, and it didn't even have a twist. It was just a decent sci-fi movie.

Same here, it took me a couple minutes to remember it was suppose to be crazy complicated, which it wasn't, really, at least not the part this diagram describes.

As for his top spinning at the end, I assumed he was just really good at spinning it after years of practice, like how some people can do the flick a quarter trick and it spins for a long time.

People read too much into the spinning top at the end. That's just a "made you wonder!" semi-joke IMO.
