Jailbroken iPhones, iTouches, and iPads

I have a jailbroken iPhone 3G and i really dig it. I thought I'd create a thread that has a bunch of tips, tricks, and cool shit that you can do with a jailbroken device.

You can delete language packs to make the phone faster. I don't know how it speeds it up, I just saw people doing it, wrote the script out of boredom and get about 100 hits a day to that one damn blog post and everybody swears by it.

You can also remove unused launch daemons, which I think probably does more for phone speed, but I haven't looked at that for months and a lot probably changed in 4.0.

I had my 2g phone jail broken and loved it so much I kept it that way after I bought a 3GS. Unfortunately the 3GS is a pain in the ass to jail break with pwnage tool so I never got that one jail broken.

I have an iPhone 4 now and haven't really looked up too much on getting this beast jail broken. If anyone has any tips on jail breaking the 4 let me know.

I mistakenly updated my 3GS to iOS 4.0 and lost my jailbreak.. doesn't seem there's gonna be a sure fire solution until Apple release the coming update to fix errors in the iOS 4.0 update.

At least that's what I've read Spirit (the jailbreak I used) are doing.

here is the website that I used. It was one of the easiest jailbreaks that I've done.

Spirit

Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
Any version of iTunes 9 earlier than 9.2

I used redsn0w to jailbreak my iPhone 3G. It was super easy and took about 30 minutes to do.

Did you have any trouble getting the 3GS into DFU mode with that program? That's the problem I had with pwnage tool. It would try to get it into that mode but something would go wrong and I would have to restore the phone and start all over.
