Not to interrupt the hate, but just for the less-technical audience out there:
iTunes audio downloads are now all copy-protection free, so they'll play on most devices as well. The only catch? The files are AAC, not MP3. Most devices can play both MP3 as well as AAC and it offers better quality than an MP3 at the same file size.

iTunes also has a built-in 'convert to MP3' feature if you want it, so if iTunes is your only option, don't worry about it.

You're paying for a one-off download of that media, and it comes with DRM. With every other download service, you pay for the right to download that file whenever you want multiple times, to different computers.

It makes the decision so painful. It's already a given that I'll be buying the CD, but it's choosing the lesser of two evils.

1.) Downloading iTunes, paying money that will partly go to Apple, converting shit format to MP3, uninstalling iTunes.

or

2.) Purchase the actual CD, no money goes to Apple, extra cost for shipping, having to wait for the CD to get here, ripping the CD into MP3s.

Fuck I wish it was on Amazon. I just downloaded Myq Kaplan's album through Amazon and before I knew it it was on my MP3 player.
