I'll be recording my next show in the next few days but my main concern is recording a good clean level to begin with. If I can get that right then post-production won't involve as much trial and error with getting everything right. My iRiver gets lodged where my speedometer is behind the steering wheel so all the vibrations run through that - I need to either cushion it or suspend from the air (sure, it'll occasionally smack me in the face but 'meh') or get one of those things that you attach to your window to hold a GPS or a mobile phone.

OR

Just record somewhere else but at this stage it's the best time for me to do it.

Hey peeps, since McNally is taking his RSS feed back for his own content (the nerve), the episodes of the Adam and Erin HAM radio will be now hosted in a Brian Ward style way.

feed://feeds.feedburner.com/UnderScoreRadio
or the Website: http://underscoreradio.blogspot.com
Thx!

I tried that Levelator program and it seems to be good and bad - it adds a little hiss but clears up a lot of the recording without having to run a high pass filter through it. Plus there was a couple points where it seemed to block the audio out completely. This is going to take a while to get it right...

I might see if I can track another recording device down and see if that improves things.

Anyhoo - here's the latest Wardio episode;

PM Mr. DaH... he had to work through some of the technical features and I think the hissing was something he figured out in all of that trial and error. He may be able to help you. He's our "technical director" so I try to stay out of that stuff!

I just finished editing mine, I used the Envelope Editor in Audacity to level everything out, I think it worked better. It takes a bit more time, but I listened through and there's no jarring volume changes between the voice and music. I basically just played around and set it so that there's only a few spikes above the 0.5 level on the left. Seemed to work ok, I didn't have to bring the speaking parts up much, but I could bring the music down a good bit. I'll post it after Keith and Chemda finish thier show. My connection's too slow to run both at once.

Edit: Uploaded. Check it.

I haven't updated in AGES but I seriously mean to get back to it. A racist Russian idiot it apparently preparing a rebuttal to my Russian serf podcast, so that should be fun.

Just checked out the Adam and Erin podcast - has a very cool vibe. More dog walking adventures please

My chums Marty and Jen do a podcast called The Box Room with lots of chit-chatting about assorted TV stuff and fluff. Jen recounts the tale of seeing Keith and The Girl Live in London (and head-butting Keith) in their latest ode
