Hmm...I'm surprised to see Heavy Rain on here a lot, I don't really know anything about it...I just (as they tell us not to) judged it by its cover and thought it looked meh. I'll have to check it out sometime, I've seen it relatively cheap in stores.
I honestly wasn't intrigued by many of the games that came out the past year. Not new ones, most of the ones I played were sequels and apparently it seems like I just happened to buy mostly pre-2010 games last year....I guess the main reason is that being a broke college student makes me very picky on what games I cash out for. that new Donkey Kong game was pretty baller though. I played the hell out of Halo Reach for the first month, then kinda a lot, and then not at all.... I'm not a huge fan of Black Ops/MoH, I think I overplayed MW2 and I just can't get into that Army fps style as much as before.

Heavy Rain? What? It's an entirely story focused game and the story is pretty poorly written. It's just an average movie but really long and will get worse if I don't hit some buttons just right.

I played about an hour, and I haven't felt the need to boot it up since. Which saddens me somewhat.

I thought the story and characters were very well written and the way your actions/decisons affected how the rest of the game plays out was pretty badass. It hooked me right in and kept me playing late into the night to see what would happen next. I do have to agree with you that using quicktime events to control the action scenes can get frustrating but at the end of the day pushing buttons to control the someones actions is hardly unusual in a video game is it?

For me, though, the game I had the most fun with in 2010 was All Points Bulletin. Can't fucking wait for it to come back in the next couple of months. |
