Can somebody give me an estimate of how much they spend at KATG week? You don't have to estimate air fare and hotel costs (but where do people even stay?) just ticket, food, and booze money type stuff.
I'd like to see if I can work it into my budget this year and still manage to continue paying off my debts and still manage to go to RollerCon. Yay learning how to be an adult at 36! |

KatG is my religion. I hope to make it to NYC for KatG Week next year. It's like Mecca. I gotta make that trek!
I drink and talk too much though. How do fans go and not make an ass of themselves? Like, if you really, really think Keith is funny or have a huge boner for Myka Fox? I hate to sound like such a fanboy, but how does one not geek the fuck out when your around people you've listened to for years? I feel like I'd go and just ... just stare. Like, how do you attach the voice to the person in front of you? I'm at the gym, or work, or hiking,...now these people are physically in front of me? Sounds weird. Sounds awesome. but ... weird right? |

Best way to save money - rent an AirBnB with a few other fans - that will free up some more booze money.
Other than that - $100/day is a good budget. As for not embarrassing yourself... I don't know about that. I've shamed myself plenty at KATG events. Last year, I stared at Brother Love with love in my eyes for hours until a friend pulled me over to him to meet him. Oh! And always try to make it to the pre-parties leading up to the big show. It's a good way of easing into the crowd.

Next, make life-sized dolls of each of them and wire speakers in where the mouth is and have sound bites from each of them "spoken" to you. This way you can become accustomed to "interacting" with them, and if it gets awkward or you say something dumb nobody else needs to know. If you have trouble making the life-sized, mouth-speaker dolls just PM me and I'll send you mine. |
