Kindle for the iPhone/iPod Touch and KATG books
I just got the Kindle app for the Touch, and I saw this link on the Amazon site: https://dtp.amazon.com/mn/signin
It seems that Amazon will allow you to publish your own book digitally through them. I think it would be great to get Keith's book, and the relationship book through a digital copy. That way Keith and Chemda can possibly avoid that asshole self-publishing house. Sound off on what you all think of this idea. |

I think this could be a slightly easier, though no less stressful and time consuming, way to get Keith's book out to the masses. There will still be a huge amount of self-editing and making sure things are set up the way they would want it, etc, though not having to deal with those publisher cocks would be a huge plus.
However, I don't think a digital copy would reach nearly as large an audience as a printed book... I myself would much rather have a professionally printed version. How else can I put it on my coffee table and yell, "That's right assholes! I have it, you don't!" to my guests when they come over?

I have a buddy that just bought a Kindle 2 and another who bought the first Kindle a while back. They're slick little devices, but I still couldn't see myself sitting around reading an entire novel off of it. I do have to say the e-ink paper displays on either are really nice, but v2 is so much more aesthetically pleasing overall. Kindle 1 looked like it was designed in the early 90's.

ebooks are great. I'd buy a real Kindle if Amazon wasn't so fucking proud of the one they are offering. that Bezos prick should stand aside and let a man with vision run the (admittedly great) company he sowed. Stick your $400 reader up your ass, I'll wait for something better for $100.
I bought a few ebooks using mobipocket with both my palm pilot and my short-lived shitty win mobile phone. I love ebooks. Having the novel your working on in your pocket at all times is awesome. I'm gonna grab the free kindle app and buy one book to see if it's worth a shit. My touch has so-so battery life and I have yet to see if the app is as good as mobipocket. Some day the daylight-reflective screens will be high res and full color. Kindle meets iphone. Until then I don't hold a lot of hope for the (near) future of ebooks. |
