Go get an Alienware PC. You'll be super satisfied.

Better yet, get a Mac.
Alienware is way over priced. I could build my own for about 3/4 the price.

Plus, Alienwares are gaming PCs. I doubt that's what OP wants.

It's only expensive if you don't look hard enough or you buy the really high end stuff.

Sorry guys, I wasn't clear.

All I want is the computer to be lovingly built - I don't want a hardware failure.

I'm not trying to save money or play games. I want a midrange computer which wont have a hardware fault - and if it does I want to be able to make a complaint and get a refund.

What is your budget, did you have a look at the Dell I suggested, it's in a similar price point to the Lenovo you showed which was the only guide I had.

Lenovo makes good systems you just pay a premium for the IBM heritage, I'm a fan of Dell over HP (way to much crap-ware pre-loaded on HP)

Those are kind of the points I was sarcastically trying to make.

my Gateway fucked up so the warranty company sent me a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge. thinkpad was a long line of great business computers. and now that lenovo owns them, it's not different. it's not the sexiest, sleakest laptop. but it has major chops. executed everything i've needed fairly efficiently.

Get a good netbook then. If you're not going to use the hell out of it it should last a while. Do a little research, like looking at the customer reviews, that'll give you a good indication of whether or not it will be good for you.

He probably just didn't want to mess with it. Like Dwarrior said he doesn't want me blaming him if it crashes or burns the house down .
