You could follow up and take steps to resolve the issue by sending them an email thanking them for making you aware of the issue of them blocking your account and making you read the notice and asking them not to block it in future. Tell them they must be wrong because you didn't download any copyright material while you're at it. (EDIT: Even better - tell them the two links they directed you to don't work. The first is a redirect to a page that doesn't even mention p2p, the second is a page not found. Cretins) Job done. No admission of guilt Also, use Peer Guardian 2 - > http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/ and make sure you tick the p2p list and update it every once in a while Also - note that Roaddunner aren't checking if you're downloading copyright stuff themselves, they don't care all that much if you do, unless they're liable for it. Typically, some anti p2p company paid by one of their clients (record/movie company) logs on to p2p and collects the IP's that are downloading/sharing a file and then forward auto emails to your ISP. The ISP used to trash them (we had filters that binned thousands of them a day on receipt) but there's the possibilty of them being taken to court these days if they don't do something so they set up this pretty little process to make you go through to make sure they've absolved themsleves of any possible legal action. There's no proof anywhere that you actually downloaded anything, just that you were an IP that was connected to a swarm that was sharing the file(s). So email road runner and tell them to fuck off and stop accusing you of stuff you haven't done (in a nice way). If you get caught again, tell em you tried to follow the instructions from the last time but the links didn't work so you couldn't get rid of the evil p2p that was on your PC. Hi Mikey, What ever became of this? I received one of these "letters" yesterday and it has me quite rattled. |
