what do you mean by manage? like, not have all your music on there at once? er what? wouldn't that kinda defeat the purpose? the a2 is a pvp, it's goin more for da video where the ipod is moosic. and why pay about $400 when you don't need to? completly destroys? well i can't say i've used an a2 but i also haven't seen anybody carrying them around, while the ipod is everywhere

A2 is a korean company with no advertising here in the states, no one knows about them unless they did extensive research while looking for a DAP or heard about through word of mouth (like forums). Just because everyone owns an iPod in no way makes it better. If you want something just for music? Get an X5. It completely blows the iPod away in sound quality and audio features. A2 still beats it in music as well but it is more expensive.

All I'm saying is if your as in to music as people always say they are, don't be afraid then to get something that may cost more (in some cases) if it will be extremely better at what it does.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the suggestions. What I ended up doing is getting Apple credit and buying a new iPod with my educational discount. It was a complete harddrive failure on the old one, not the battery. It should be here in a couple of days plenty of time before I head back out east (and plenty of time before I have the misfortune of driving through Indiana and Ohio (et al). By the way, has anyone noticed how deceptively large the state of New York is? Driving straight across it is CRAZY long.
