My kitchen sink won't fucking drain
So my kitchen sink won't fucking drain and I can't call the plumber now. It's a dual-sink setup with a garbage disposal thing on one side, and there's a dishwasher. There's standing water that stays about level between the two sinks, and some standing water in the dishwasher (but it doesn't seem to be connected to the sinks).
I've drained the original standing water that was there (not sure how it got there to begin with), then I've plunged the fuck out of the sinks for like an hour now, and I poured boiling water/windex down like 4 times now and drained everything. I pretty much got rid of all the pipe crud that was coming up, so now mostly what comes up is just clear water that I've poured in on one side. The two sinks are currently drained, but there's water in the connecting pipes I can't get to. I'm not really sure what else to do. Is there such a thing as frozen drain pipes? That doesn't really make sense. Also, I had a bunch of dirty dishes in the sink when this happened. Do I throw them out now, or can I recover them by soaking them in some chemicals? It was like half the dishes in the house, since we're lazy and only do them on weekends. HELP! I didn't know RL could fucking break like that. ps, I'm gonna get some vinnegar and then bp+vin it, but I'm not sure if that'll do any good, since the plunging hasn't worked.

Disconnect the drain pipe beneath the junction and P-trap and snake the drain below that. You should be able to get a cheap snake and a pipe wrench for around $20. Be prepared for the mess that will spill when you open the drain pipe. If the clog is also backing up the dishwasher it might be tough for drano to get down that far.

Persistence?
The internets say to not pour drano because it can fuck with the pvc pipes. After some further googling, this is probably a frozen drain pipe afterall, so I'm just gonna wait and hope. Our sink has a thing installed that only lets small stuff through, so I"d have to remove that somehow to use the snake thing, and I don't even know where to get a snake thing. Also removing pipes and stuff is beyond my expertise, and I don't even own the place. |
