Pimp Your Band KATG Listeners

If you're in a band (not your friend, not your cousin and not your old English teacher who sings karaoke but YOU) why not let the rest of the KATG community hear what your stuff is like. Criticism (not out-right heckling a la McNally stand-up style, random tampon throwing won't help you sing in tune) will only help you hone your craft so why not let a bunch of assholes tell you what they think.

I'll start the ball rolling by posting my bands' site;

Lacrymae

Cool Music

I am not in a band but I do offer a great service. My Site http://www.trackspin.com allows independent artists to sell their music online and receive 70% of the profit. Best part it is totally free.

Except for the 30% of profit they don't get to keep.

I don't think you realize that when an artist sells the CD themselves they don't even come close to making 70% of the sale and don't even get me started about what the record company gives you. That being said within the next month we are upping the percentage to 80% for the artist.

When I say the service is free I mean there are no upfront costs that the artists have to pay. They can upload an unlimited number of songs and sell them. There is no technical cost to the artist. This leaves them with more time to promote and do what they do best make great music.

Lastly, our 30% is used to cover the cost of every sales transaction (which isn't cheap when someone only buys 1 song), the storage of the media on our servers, and the promotion and development of the site itself. I am not saying that their isn't something in it for me, but we give way more than we take.

Wait, are you telling me it costs money to run a business? That's just crazy.

Here are some songs from my friend's old rap band/group, the Southside Fam. The songs are fucking hilarious and not meant to be taken seriously. The guy I know, "Drew Heat" as he goes by in the songs, used to be in a band called Nippon Crue which I was part of. If I can find some of our old songs I'll post those too.

Anyway, the Southside Family consisted of 3 crackers, "Jaybird", "Double D", and "Drew Heat", as well as a black dude who wrote all the music for them. It's really funny stuff and pretty well put together. I don't have a website, so I had to upload them to some free file hosting website, but the direct links for download are below.

Southside Fam:
1. Track 1 - 2nd funniest
2. Track 2 - 3rd funniest. I think it's called "Crackalatin'"
3. Track 3 - Probably the funniest song. I have no idea what this one is called, but it's about STDs and how Richmond used to be the Gonorrhea capital of the US.
4. Track 4 - 4th funniest. I also have no idea what this one is called.

my favorite is probably "watching and waiting"

i play the drums, all the keyboard parts and the harmony vocals. these were recorded in our basement/rehearsal spot over a weekend.
