With you on this one. And I'd defend your justifiable homicide. I cannot tell you how many dictionaries I have bought just so I can hand them out to people to use that non-word. Clearly they and the tool had never been properly introduced.

When it comes to words, I tend to be a stickler, but isn't making shit up part of how languages evolve?

English is already cluttered, are us sticklers pressing against the second law?

ir = a negation
regard = action (e.g. to have regard for)
less= a negation

Now express that mathematically and you'll see what I mean.

Oh, I follow you 100%, Zim, but I'm just sayin', in the context of the rest of the bullshit in our language, it ain't the weirdest construct we've seen, is it?

From a certain angle, it could even be considered to have a bit of charm.

EDIT: I suppose this is sort of like asking an atheist to appreciate the charms of theism or deism.

Since we've entered into the realm of the grammar nazi, does anyone else get irritated by the common misuse of the word hopefully?

When you hear/read this word, it it typically used to mean something like "I hope" or "it is to be hoped" rather than what it actually means -- an adjective meaning "in a hopeful manner."

Just sayin'...

Yes. I am equally irritated by the improper use of adjectives where one needs an adverb. Seriously, do you not know the part of speech of the word you are attempting to modify? Or is it as I suspect, that said individuals just don't care? I keep this in mind when asked to care about whatever their current "poor me" situation is.
