so, i'm Barnes Cogswell. i needed a nom de plume for something about six years ago and he happened. since then, he's kind of taken on a life of his own and become something of a legitimate folk hero. the schtick of it is i've been giving him real life artistic credits when and where i can and spreading his story so that folks don't quite know if he's real or not; several gallery events, design credit for NEA granted theater, he released a protest anthem (with t-shirts) when a woman hung a KKK sign in the town square which got him an interview with the local paper. those that know his true origins have taken it upon themselves to be in on it calling themselves "Friends of Barnes." they talk about him like he's a real guy to others not in on it, putting themselves in stories with him, etc. , and have created art as him and for him. this morning, a song written about him hit Spotify. i am thrilled. he is my greatest doing.

next time any of y'all see me, i'll sit you down and tell you his whole tale.

lol, that's his folk anthem. the woman that pretty much owns this whole town got a bug up her ass about a building the city was giving her guff over and she put up a big KKK sign as a fuck you. so he released this little ditty.
