There is another organization that i have been going through for the last 7yrs or so since i have been deploying. I'll spare you my back ground, but will make a pitch for a non profit that i truly support.

It is called adopt a platoon. Not only do you support one soldier, you can help support his whole platoon and his whole company.

If any takers on more information please email me or leave me a messege on here. I have been deployed through the holidays many times and its no fun, but it is nice to get a letter or even a box full of shit. Makes it even better if its someone in the states that you dont know but they really appricate what you are doing and your sacrifice, and just want to send you a thank you and a candy cane.

to send a jug too!
No pork or pork products, alcohol, pornography, or glass containers
No chocolate after May or before September. With temperatures reaching into the 130's and beyond, the chocolate wouldn't make it very far!
Don't forget plastic silverware with food items.
Put liquids and scented items in Zip Lock bags just in case!

In order for you to keep the shipping costs down, you can use a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box. When shipping in one of these boxes (there are two sizes), whatever you can fit in the box, regardless of the rate, is $8.10!! You can pick these boxes up at your local post office. You will need to fill out a Customs Declaration From (Form 2976-A).
Chocolate is not a good thing to send, chocolate doesnt last very long in the 120 degree heat. But we all want it over there though, please dont send chocolate or homemade cookies, they wont make it.

Exactly. I don't know the specific circumstances regarding the
Sgt. that I sponsor, but I know a lot of people go in for financial reasons.
Often times recruiters lie to them just to get them to join. The recent military ads seem to be aimed at getting parents to soften up to the idea of their kids going in. Get a young person graduating from high school with no job prospects and no hope to attend college and perhaps you can convince them that the military is their only option...especially if parents have been softened up ahead of time.

Or, what if the guy actually believes that he is defending his country?

And, Matt, I am also a card carryiing member of Amnesty International, as well as many other human rights organizations. If we expect to have any kind of world worth living in, we are going to have to recognize that it's all about the peeps.

ALL the peeps, not just the ones that look and think like me or you.

Good stuff MR OSLIN.
I'm an anti-war peace-loving hippie/commie, but that doesn't mean I don't care about the troops serving overseas.
Being concerned for the welfare of the troops does not mean supporting the war.

I'm that guy. High School kicked my ass, college wasnt an option. I have zero regrets, have served proudly for 12 yrs.

Just cause folks think different, and have different opinions, doesnt mean anyone is wrong or right, its an opinion. Thats the beauty of living in America, and being an American, the ability to open your mouth and have nothing but shit come flying out a majority of the time
