I have this thing from a company called Scentsy. It's pretty awesome. I have mine in the bathroom, but it makes my whole place smell good.

It totally beats candles because there's no soot or smoke to discolor your walls, and no flame, so it's not a fire hazard, even when you're not at home. It's not dangerous because the wax doesn't get hot enough to burn you (or your curious toddler.) Plus, you can change the scent whenever you want.

It's basically a little ceramic jar with a removable top, and a small light bulb inside. You place a little cube of scented wax in the top part and turn it on, and the lightbulb heats the wax just enough to slowly melt it and release the scent. They have like 80 scents to choose from, and when you're sick of a particular scent, or the wax has lost its potency or whatever, you just let the wax cool, pop it out with a butter knife, toss it, and put a different wax cube in the top.

The little jar thingees (called warmers) come in all different styles. Some of them are pretty girlie, but there are some sleeker ones that I could see in a dude's place. I hate girlie home decor, so mine's pretty minimalist.

Uh.... Okay, I think I sound like a Scentsy salesperson now. Sorry.

Reed diffusers.

I used B&BW wallflowers. They're pretty awesome, especially if you pick up the refills on sale. Each refill lasts about 3 weeks for me. I like the nature scented ones like leaves, fresh balsam, and eucalyptus spearmint. None of that fancy flower shit.
