i like that character. she's not just "sassy" you can tell there is some deeper stuff at work there. I hope she is in a lot of episodes and not killed off suddenly. Seems like they will work a murder mystery into the plot so we'll see who else is killed.

So far I like all of the characters and being from NC I find the accents to pretty typical of smaller southern towns. I like how the emphasize on the lack of all the comforts of big cities. Just the ambient sounds of bugs and silence really set the tone.

THe only gripes I have... albeit minor...

what's with the super gay flaming black dude? Does HBO have to include an openly gay character in EVERY show now? He is hilarious though.

The gimmick of creating romantic tension by making people talk to eachother with only an inch between their faces ... it's getting old already. Just fuck and get it over with.

No way. That show was awesome. It might be for people only in the middle or right side of the bell curve, but not just for gays and chicks.

(for 6 ft fans, the box set is a steal and it includes both soundtracks. Hopefully HBO makes all of their shows this affordable eventually)

Edited to add: Ball has a movie coming out this week too

Didn't get a very high "metascore", but it does look good. I'll have to keep an eye out for the video...

Agreed! I think my love of that show had more to do with my obsession with death and my ideal job of work in a funeral home. It rated aces high nontheless.

I also loved how each episode started by showing how that episode's funeral home "customer" died.

Being born in Louisiana and living in Alabama I did find the accents and characters a little campy but it didn't take away from how cool I think the series is going to be.

Tyler and I just watched the first episode (late to the party, I know).

Having spent some time with a number of "loozeeanners", the accent was off.

But that didn't bother me.

The acting, THAT bothered me. I kept telling myself the whole way through "this is just a pilot, the next episode will be better.."
But confidence remains low. It's a hell of a concept though.

I usually watch most TV/Movies in English if I can find it and this is the first time that I kind of wish it would be available in a dubbed version already. The accent really throws me off a bit especially as it seems to come and go.
But I have never been in this part of the US so what do I know.

Otherwise it looks fun and I will keep watching.

Liked the ending of ep 2 a lot. It makes the whole vampire thing a bit more then just a metaphor for minorities.
