Last time I was in Vegas, I was standing 'round the OTB in one of the old casinos, and my cell phone went off. A security guard chased me away from there right away. It was assed out. I wasn't even betting on anything.

I don't get why people can't just turn their phones off for a couple hours. Is everyone that important that they have to be available by phone 24/7?

I could understand if it was something worthwhile, but in a lot of cases it's just phonecalls about pointless shit. It would be nice if people once in a while could get a bit less connected (says the person who listens to their iPod while sitting on the toilet).

Personally, sometimes talking during a movie can be fun. I saw Inside Man with a predominantly black crowd and the "you go Denzel!"'s abounded. I always talk very loudly before a movie begins (during the trailers/commercials), and if a crowd is loud I won't hesitate to add to the noise. Part of seeing a movie in the theatre is being with other people. If I wanted to watch a movie alone I'd see it on DVD. There is a point where things can get rude, but there are situations where I will talk in movies. Still, cell phones are a no-no. Only live social interaction in theatres, please.
