What to do in New York...
Alright, so I'm finally going to get to visit New York City for the first time in my life... I've been all over the country and world... but for some reason, just never been to New York. I'm very excited, but unfortunately, I'll only have one or two days to explore it.
I'm looking for: advice, from whoever, about the must-see places and tips on how to avoid tourist traps that all the travel books tell you to go to that turn out to suck... hard. Basically, I want to get the most out of this short time as possible, and I figured the forums would have some pretty unconventionally awesome suggestions. I'll most likely be checking out at least one exhibit at the MOMA... and I'd like to check out Nice Guy Eddie's, but that's all I have planned so far. I haven't decided the exact day(s) I'll be going, but it will be between Dec. 29th and January 4th (and it won't be the 31st, I don't need to deal with a ridiculous crowd waiting for a giant ball to be lowered slightly) Details: I'm a dude My girlfriend will be with me We're in our early twenties I'm not a huge fan of plays, but could be convinced to see something (evil dead the musical didn't sound too shabby) I'll have some money to spend, but I'm trying to keep it fairly cheap, unless it's for something totally worth it. ...and I think that's it. If any of the show's regular guests (except deuce) would like some drinks on me, they are invited to meet up with us and get their drink on... I have it in writing that Keith thinks I'm awesome... and that I should stay in this state... written in permanent marker. that means forever.

Are you guys chocolate fans? Fairly recently this guy Max Brenner has open up two new restaurants in ny and the food is incredible! You can check it out at www.maxbrenner.com where you can look at the menu and read all about the absolute yumminess that they serve. A bonus is that both locations are in neighborhoods which are more hip and fun. The larger restaurant is right by Union Square and the smaller, but less busy one is by St. Mark's Place.
Hope this helps! |

Hm...have you ever been there on a Saturday night? I'm trying to find somewhere to eat at around 9pm with a group of 5-10 people and of course no one takes reservations. I imagine that wouldn't work then. Does anyone have any suggestions on restaurants in the East Village area? I don't know much about food in that area. |
