Seeing the Elongated Man in an episode made my inner geeky child weep...

With Plastic Man, no less. Have you been reading Blackest Night?

I read ABOUT it, but as far as getting it, nope. I buy collected issues lately, being that comic book stores here are flimsy at best, while you can find almost anything at a decent price online.

It has its problems (like reading the last volume of 100 bullets and understanding that i forgot part of the plot. I had to re-read the series from scratch), but at least i can read stuff with my own timing.

Anyway, i'll be in london next week. A visit at forbidden planet will be mandatory, so i'll get "Blackest Night". Do you reccomend anything else? What about the Grant Morrison Batman stuff? I like his writing, but he does get a bit brainy sometimes...

Answered over here so I don't annoy people in the movie thread.

Shine A Light - Scorcese's film of The Rolling Stones. I could watch Mick do that spastic white man dance all day long, it just so happens he has some of the most awesome music ever to dance to. Best bit was when Keith gets asked who's the best guitarist out of him and Ronnie and he says, "Truth is we're both pretty lousy but together we're better than any ten others." Fuckin A.

Yeah, that's the common response but to be fair it's Tarantino's own fault for proving he can do more grown-up movies when he did Jackie Brown. It's not what they were expecting from him necessarily, but it's what they're wanting.

Oh the irony. When Jackie Brown came out, it flopped enormously, and all the movie geeks were shitting on it, saying it was too slow and talky. Now the same nerds, that have become older and snobbier, say that it actually is their favourite movie, and that other tarantino movies are childish and he's overrated.

No man, the nerds are pretty much unanimously loving it, it's some of the proper serious critics who are giving it the thumbs down.

Hmmm, yeah, you're right. It's that the movie geeks i meet say all the same "oooh Tarantino is overrated, his only good movie is "Jackie brown". But they're more hipster nerds (that's what we get in Italy. The snobby, artsy nerd who despises cool stuff) than actual movie-geeks.

Everyone is an intellectual critic here, you should have seen the bunch of disgusted expressions i usually get when i say that i loved The Dark Knight.

Pulp Fiction's my personal favourite. I've only seen Jackie Brown once but I didn't like it, may have to give it another try.
