Toy Story 3
5/5

Not the best thing Pixar's made, but it's a great ending to the Toy Story trilogy. I enjoyed seeing a lot of the old characters again, Woody, Buzz, the little three-eyed alien guys from Pizza Planet, the new characters in this film were pretty good too...

More than anything, I like the way the wrapped things up in this film...not like the 2nd one where it's like...ooooh there might be a third...but it won't come out till years and years later...and Andy's gonna be in college...this movie ended and it's pretty clear it's the last of the Toy Story movies (I hope...)

It's almost depressing at times, like I sincerely felt bad for a bunch of fictional toys who were about to lose their owner...lol.

Can't say more, I don't like the idea of spoiling anything for any of you who've yet to see it and want to...but I definitely like this movie.

Makes me want to rewatch the 2nd one to see if I really disliked it so much, seems odd when you can follow a shitty sequel with a great one.

Next, lets stop the Hollywood remake of "Let the right one in". Shit, thats not going to happen. Even though I here good things about Chloe Moretz, she will never be an Eli to me. To me she will just be the worst part of "500 days of summer".

I hate Hollywood right now.
What? Goddamnit

Toy Story 3: 3/5

I know exactly what it is I don't like about this movie. It was all a bunch of action set pieces linked one after another. I felt like the stakes would all be perfectly resolved without any kind of meaningful symbolism I could relate with. It was all just: "Get from point A to B" story.

The original toy story was special cause you became invested in the growth of the main character and the actions his personality make and how it affects the characters around him and ultimately himself. There was a poetic character growth and that is exactly what has been missing ever since from its follow ups.

That being said, the gag gimmicks were funny i.e. Ken and Barbie (but mostly frivolous) and the action set pieces were all top notch and creative.

I didn't hate the movie, I'm just not used to having so many complaints about a pixar film. Maybe I'm spoiled, oh well. They raised my standards, and for my money they fell short.

PS... 3D is a fucking rip-off. The only thing I saw with my glasses was Pixar studios sticking their middle finger up at the corporate Hollywood executives who are meddling with their artistic integrity. Pixar hates 3D and you are wearing the glasses only so that the screen wont be blurry. Kudos to pixar, fuck 3D!

Yes, thanks. I always call it that by accident.

BTW: I don't recommend it.

I do recommend: "On the page" podcast to any other aspiring writers. That has really taught me a lot.

I see your points about the film, but I still feel like it was really good and gave the trilogy the closure it needed...to prevent further sequels.

And I said fuck 3D by seeing it at a good ol' fashioned Drive In, no 3D..just the comfort of my car, the company of my friend, and the big ass screen in front of me.

Funny you say that. I just got Pilar's DVD literally today in the mail. Can't wait to learn her 10 minute exercises. You are right, she does a great podcast.

Went to midnight showing of Human Centipede.

The drama of it was actually quite funny. I take it as a cautionary tale for young ladies.

***SMALL SPOILER***

If a pervy, fat, old, german, guy offers you a ride when you're stranded. and he's saying something about fucking. Just fuck him and get the ride, lest you become some other psychos human centipede.

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)

Great movie, I was tired of being the only human who hasn't seen the movie, so I finally sat down and watched it....boy I wish this were a part of my childhood...but it wasn't, but it was fun.

Holy fuck I can't remember when I had so much fun watching a movie. Hit-Girl carried most of this movie and kicked more ass than most "superheros," Nicolas Cage (who I despise) did surprisingly well in this, and the supporting cast didn't overact as much as one might expect.

This movie delivered on so many levels; awesome action, great soundtrack (Ennio Morricone and Elvis? Thank you very fucking much), and hilarious scenes. The momentum of it never lets up.

Now switch to kryptonite!*

10/10

*I know this might be a typo/mis-hearing; deal with it fellow nerds.
