Pirates 4: On Stranger Tides. PotC4 is the Scrubs season 9 of movies. Some of the same people, but none of the stuff that made the other ones good.
Spoilers you find out in the first 10 minutes of the movie: 1. Years have past since the last movie. While the rest had no time lapse, this one does to help explain why the other main characters aren't in it. 2. Capt Jack has gained weight and gone a little blonde. 3. Capt Jack doesn't just do stuff like he used to. Now you see him looking around like he's making a lame plan. 4. The writers couldn't come up with new lines, so background characters repeat things they said in the first 3 movies. |

Another good United States Marine Corps Boot Camp documentary. As always, these documentaries bring chills to my spine, along with good memories.

![]() Just got back from a midnight showing. This film basically highlights the origin of how things came to be (pertaining to the X-Men films we're already familiar with). Everyone is extremely young and it's right around the Cuban Missile Crisis. Once again, there are some pointless mutants and some that are excused (i.e. killed) so soon from their introduction but something to be done I suppose. Not everyone mutant can be an Omega class. Now, comic book purists are going to upset because the film does not follow strictly to the storyline but as far as a comic book film goes, it's really well done. Professor X and Magneto work together for the majority of the film and of course Magneto feels humans will never accept mutants so he is very bitter and X embraces all life equally; themes we've seen before in prior films. The writing is sharp for the most part (albeit a few predictable scenes), the action is intermittent (not an onslaught on the senses, a la Transformers, but enough to satisfy the fantastical), and the pace flows enough not to leave you bored (it's slightly over two hours). And there is a couple of cameos that's going to leave a grin on your face. And no, there is nothing after the credits, so you don't need to wait. I went ahead and did that for you. I was rather impressed by what was done here. When I first heard that the X-Men would help during the missile crisis, I rolled my eyes thinking it would be a hokey romp, but that was only one face of the entire story, not the main focus. James McAvoy (Professor X) and Michael Fassbender (Magneto) did their roles remarkably well; couldn't have picked a better pair of actors to lead this movie. BTW, Rose Byrne in lingerie? Thank you very much. 7.5/10 Last edited by Incognito; 06-03-2011 at 02:54 AM. |

Rubber - It's about a psychotic tire that kills people by making their heads explode using it's telekinetic powers. Yes, a tire. A silly movie with many "WTF" moments coming from every direction. 5/10.

Green Lantern
Lantern is my favorite DC hero (2nd favorite under Hulk) so I was excited, the trailers started coming out and my freinds were like "I don't know that CG looks pretty bad" Part of me agreed, I hated the outfit since day one. But I always try to keep hope alive. When more trailers came out I started to get excited, this was going to be DC's Ironman. I had one friend holding out saying it was going to be terrible, because he hates CG and Ryan Reynolds so I just figured it was that that made him not think it was going to be good. God damn it. this movie is BAAAAAAAAAAD there are good things in it, but it is over all just boring. All of those good things are unoriginal universally used devices in the superhero genre, its like someone could have just put a green filter over the first spiderman movie. They messed up the villians origin (parallax) and while I'm usually more forgiving of updating an origin to make it easier for mainstream audience, this one was just stupid. I did like how they use the constructs though. I would say don't see this, but they left the seeds in for a really good second movie (we see a yellow ring) so I don't know if I want this to succeed or not.
