What's better?Metal vs Punk!

Not that I know nothing about Metal but a few thing to consider...

1.Dead Kennedy's
2.Gallows
3.Black Flag
4.Sex Pistols
5.Ramones
6.The Clash

and some others....
7.The Stooges!!
8.The Velvet Undergroud(White Light,White Heat)..in my opinion the start of punk.

9.Early Sonic Youth taken somewhere different...plus most of their other shit..why cant you be jam band and punk?

Round 1..Fight.

Metal is the more talented branch of music out of the two.

Anything from classic heavy metal, to death metal, thrash, black metal, grindcore, blah blah...it's a much more technical type of music. Lyricism varies greatly among subgenres and bands...and being such, I think Metal deserves more respect than Punk...

that said, out of personal tastes, I prefer the quick, anthem-like, rallying, and social commentary of punk. I usually prefer punk to metal musically as well...but that all depends on my mood.

Both are valid and awesome chunks of music.

I definitely prefer metal, but opinions are opinions.

I prefer metal... it's an incredibly expansive genre.

It depends what you're into. It's like asking, "What's better, apples or oranges".

Apples are incredibly repetitive and cliche. It takes absolutely no talent to eat an apple, and they all basically taste the same.

This can all be settled if you listen to "The Metal" by Tenacious D
