This is my favorite special-occasion bar. It's actually a theater - Living Room Theaters in downtown Portland. The cocktails are super expensive and unbelievably delicious and strong, and that blue-colored bar and lighting behind the bottles slowly changes color as you sit and drunkenly stare. Sometimes I really enjoy putting on a fancy outfit just to go out and get sloshed in style, and this place really is the perfect setting. Plus: art house films!

The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Mile End (Thebarton) South Australia. A really old Pub dating back to the mid 1800s which carries with it no airs or graces but serves a wonderful variety of locally brewed beers and has a vibrant live music scene. Not a poker machine in sight and no big screen TV's blasting shit out into the front bar and drowning out the good conversation.

I drop by for a couple pints at least once a week and when I'm in the shit, twice a week.

Jade and the girls work behind the bar and what they don't know about good beer isn't worth knowing.
