Thanks! I tried this stuff and there seemed to be a bit of a performance boost, but the same thing is still happening.

Preston,
Did you happen to disable tea timer? What does the task manager like when things are acting oddly?

Switched to a better machine and then everything seem to work ok!

I have a new problem. I have an application that uses http to transfer files from an sd card to a server. I have a client that is using Windows 7 Home Premium edition and the application is having trouble. It connects, but will not create the remote folder that it needs to in order to perform the upload. This typically means that the connection is shit or that a firewall is interfering.

There is no connection problem and it works on every other computer in the room including Win 7 pro. Could this be a security issue built into the home edition?

Never mind, seems they were using a wireless stick that was blocking it.

...Which I can't resolve. Does anyone know of a reason why a Huawei e182e mobile stick and/or Telus would block this? I have talked to both of them and they say there is no issue. Could it be a firmware thing?

Who puts less crapware

I'm looking to buy a new system considering Dell, HP, Gateway?, Acer? anyway my current HP some 4 + years old came with a shit tone of crap ware that made the system run slow as shit, Fortunately I had XP cd's and volume licensing at work I could use to blow that bullshit away and start clean. Licensing model of win 7 (corporate KMS servers or individual activation) makes this difficult so I need to know who puts the least shit on their systems. Or am I just buying a copy of 7 after getting a system.
