The wacky redneck republican sketch might fly on Air America, but I feel it is out of place on his podcast. I get that he believes on a podcast, you can do any damned thing you want(and he's right), but I want to take him a bit more seriously.

Air America was on the radio, and the radio is a great medium for sketch comedy bits because of the transitive nature of the audience, some popping in and out in just a few minutes. A short bit there works, it's appealing. But if I am going out of my way to download and listen to an hour of a show, throw away gags fail to entertain me.

In short, I want Marc Maron, unabridged, uncensored, I don't want short fictional yucks.

I guess I'm in the minority in that those little thing's don't bother me because I'm just thrilled he now has a show which he controls completely and when it ends or fades out, it will be on his own terms and not by anyone else's.

It's really hard for me to criticize anything that I get for free. If I don't like something I just stop listening to it and that's that.. Why gripe about it. Like I said. I'm most likely in the minority with this sentiment.

There's a difference between a gripe and feedback/critique. The price directly affects toleration of things I dislike, but nobody should feel like they can't or shouldn't be critical of something because it's free. As a creative person, I think that would stop the art world largely in it's tracks.

It's free, so I will tolerate some things I dislike. I will squeak about it where I can, and support where I am able, that is the contract with all art/artists to which a patron should adhere.

I see little point in being critical of the fans.

I have to agree, just because your critiquing something doesn't mean you shitting all over the work free or not. It just means your offering suggestions in order for it to be a better overall product. If someone is just trying to be an ass about it then no they shouldn't say anything, but if you have general good will in your critiquing then theres nothing wrong with it.

I'll give you the point on having the right about being critical. I guess I read more into it than was just there. As for your point on making a suggestion on what to improve, that would only work if Marc Maron actually read this thread. A more useful tactic would be to email him directly. Otherwise, if he doesn't read this thread, then he will never see your points and agree/disagree with them on how they would make his show better.

He could read this, but he doesnt seem the type of person who's really interested in feedback. Plus, there's got to be an idiot majority who doesnt get the difference between a podcast and a radio show, and wants wacky cartoon charcters.

Even more: i love Marc, but i thought he would eventually get over the "republican are idiots" stitch and start finding the faults in the actual presidency.

Anyways, when i think he's being less funny or too intense i visualize this:
