You know how people love their gifs? They're always on hand somehow?

I'm like that but only with this:

I know these are not body parts Hennessy understandably wants to think about much but for the rest of us FYI:
no uterus = no bleeding, that would be instantly stopping. If you do hormones only the bleeding may or may not stop slowly over time (depends on how hard the estrogens fight I assume)

Also I highly recommend getting a Mirena IUD for us cis girls that simply want to stop the bleeding, one of the best decisions I made in the last 10 years.

Can't help but think we missed an opportunity to have Dr. Megaphone consult on Chemda's gastro.

The only silent retreat I'm interested in involves sign language and Deaf people. Which I get almost everyday. So I don't need a retreat.

I thought so too but it's not the case, there is some residual bleeding that happens, it just doesn't happen in the traditional monthly cycle. It will eventually stop but my friend who had a hysterectomy was still surprise bleeding for about six months.

The monthly cycle is the uterine lining sloughing off and being passed through the vagina. With no uterus (ie, hysterectomy), there is no lining to pass, so bleeding stops instantly upon healing.

There is a uterine procedure called a thermal ablation in which monthly bleeding tapers off over 6-12 months.

Yeah, I'm aware of how uteruses work. (Uteri? I guess I'm not aware enough to know the plural.)

From what she said, even though the uterus is removed but there can still be blood built up above the cervix. She actually had the ablation originally but ended up with the hysterectomy - so the bleeding after that was a big shock, and that's how it was explained.
