I am gonna just say this...

The movie was just ok.

First of all it was waaay too long. I was squirming in my seat after a while (could be that I was sick and I'd rather watch movies at home anyways.

Second, the score kept taking me out of it. It's like the composer cribbed notes from The Lion King. I kept waiting for Mufasa's voice over to kick in.

Last, what the fuck was up with T'challa's best friend. He sure sided with Kilmonger rather quickly.

Keith, I ONE MILLION BILLION PERCENT agree with you about the paying on a date thing. It's bullshit that dudes are expected to pay and no matter how nice it is to be the recipient of a paid for date, it's just not right to expect that going in.

Why not a cultural norm wherein we all expect the first date to be 50/50? So what if one person makes more money? (Because by Chemdas argument about the wage gap it would stand to reason that any woman who makes more should then be expected to pay, right?)

I have always followed this rule: if you accept a date, expect to pay for yourself. If the other person wants to pay, it's a nice gift. On a first date neither person is in a position to demand a gift from the other so it still being an expected cultural norm is fucking weird and (I think) lazy on the part of those expecting or demanding to be paid for.

We are adults, we know our own financial situations and we can speak up if something is out of our price range. Let's stop with this outdated garbage!

On that note, if you know you are never going to see this person again, don't accept the gift of being paid for, it's just rude and shitty.

I thought it was interesting that Rod was (a) only allowed to be guest on half the show and (b) not allowed to come to the studio.

Paul "White As A Dream" Hooper was never treated this way.

I felt bad for ya about the divorce (thoughts and prayers), but a little time has passed and we've gotten over the pain and now it's time for comedy gold!

You should let Chemda swipe for you and use the KATG card. How many VIP do we need for that? That's a campaign I can get behind.

I just wanted to say re: Keith's skepticism about how Vibranium suddenly made Wakanda so advanced. Vibranium in BP is modeled after Coltan, which is a mineral first found in the Congo and neighbouring African countries (Rwanda, I think) without which cellphones (and other devices) could not be made.

However, these countries were exploited for it and make very little money at all from the resources due to war, mining contracts with Western countries, and centuries of smuggling/illegal mining.

So black panther poses an answer to the question 'What if these countries were allowed to discover the uses of these minerals for themselves, and develop without Western interference and exploitation?'

Granted, it's still a superhero movie so obviously the tech is ridiculous. But if Tony Stark can make a robot suit with some guns and welding equipment in an Iraqi cave, then anything is possible.

Also the movie is great.
