I saw Jeffrey Gurian during KATG week and said to myself, "who is that fucking freak?" Which is saying something during KATG week! But I looked at him like I recognized him from somewhere.
When I listened to him on the show I got that feeling again that I knew him. It could be that he's the child I was when I was a child. He has a fascination with the world that I have lost over time. I forgot what I lost, but I know I lost something. As I write this and do a little research on him I think it may be more. I think I may have met him in my teens. It could be that he was friends with one of my cousins. I'm just not sure. But if we did meet 20-30 years ago, I would not be surprised. Man, it's really nagging at me. |

I'm a Skeptic
I am still questioning if it was intentional or not, but the only way I was able to get through all of the conversation on healing touch, physic surgery, and chakras was thanks to Keith’s soft jabs pointing out the absurdity. With the numerous times this pseudoscience being shown to be nothing more than scams, flimflams, and archaic ignorance, I cannot understand how anyone could follow such nonsense.

Gurian was a decent guest from an entertainment industry perspective. I especially appreciated his (IMO wrong) perspective on Joe Rogan calling out joke thieves. I did not at all care for his spiritual healing bullshit, and I'm glad Keith got the few jabs he did.

Really fun guest, healing hands and everything. He's such a positive soul, I love it. I struggle with agnosticism and somewhat believing in the healing hands stuff, I'm on the fence... it's one of those beliefs that doesn't bug me because it doesn't impose a God or a philosophy, it's all good, all positive, no problem. And I see nothing wrong with that, you know?
Keith's position is clear (and hilarious - I love it how Jeffrey rolled with it). But I wonder how Chemda reconciles atheism with healing hands theory. As an agnostic I struggle with these thoughts so I'd love to hear from her. Also - nomination for best new guest. I'm not sure he's very popular amongst everyone here but I'd like to see him on that list. |

ok so I made a little fun of Jeffrey initially and I'll admit, it was all based on appearances and non-sober judgement from when I first laid eyes on him April 15th but hot dayum, I like this dude! I now see it wasn't just me who did this
And the nail in the coffin for me was going to read the new post on his blog (thanks for the heads up Earl) and see the pic of him with Mitch Hedberg. I'M DONE, now I gotta read this guy's book. Who knows, maybe Jeffrey knows what happened to the Dufranes? I would love to see with Brolo and "his dad" on the show together. Talk about mind...blown. All in all, this episode was quite a pleasant surprise |

At that first statement joke I simultaneously got the sinking feeling that this show would be full of cliche jokes like that and the thrill that this guy could sell any joke he told. Just like Brother Love, I thought. I thought Keith was kidding about him being Brother Love's father at first. Seemed too perfect. (I'm still not sure, actually, it's all very confusing.)
Amazing voice. That whole spiritual healing section is an ASMR massage. Last edited by starscream; 05-15-2013 at 02:20 PM. |

So sayeth the 'Thought Police' posing as feminist rhetoric.
You obviously need some hip-hop albums. I suggest Big L. He seems to be 'straight pimpin' on the regular.' No fucking clue what that means but it sounds fascinating. Last edited by Enunciated Piffle; 05-15-2013 at 01:59 PM. Reason: not dickish enough |
