The premise of "Thank You For Smoking" is that a Vermont senator (William H. Macy) is trying to pass legislation that would require tobacco companies to make the warning on cigarette packs take up half of the pack. The warning was this gory skull and crossbones with POISON written underneath. I thought it was preposterous until I saw some of those European packs. Now it seems like something that could actually happen.

The movie, by the way, was the funniest thing I've seen in a year, Katie Holmes's performance notwithstanding (she's fucking unwatchable.)
