carmen’s bites look like something I have heard called chiggers. Keith Might remember these from his Army days? Nasty and painful but there are some tricks:
1. Avoid contact by wearing boots, tall socks sprayed with bug spray (ask the military folks for bug spray called deet) and wear “boot blousers” (cost less than a dollar) so the pants fold in a way that covers the boot. The idea being you leave no space for the bugs to get in. Spray boots and pants with bug spray and repeat often. 2. If you end up with bites smother them with a thick application of nail polish. Don’t scratch, don’t pick at it, just apply nail polish and get to medic as soon as possible to make sure they correctly identify it. 3. Bugs can end up in odd places, be careful peeing outside Last edited by PippaMags; 12-11-2018 at 10:13 PM. Reason: I like the name “no see ums” better |

Oh yuck poor Carmen, these bites look uncomfortable.
I'm currently on vacation in Thailand which is gorgeous and I highly recommend it but the constant process of applying sunscreen & insect repellent is a lot of work. And I still have a number of moquito bites somehow. At least it's only mosquitos, I've had my legs look like Carmen's in that picture on a vacation in Egypt once - I assume that was some kind of stupid tiny sandfly. So much itchyness. |

I have never understood this legend that "Greenland and Iceland used tricky names to get more visitors to Greenland".
Because like... what's in it for Iceland? If "having visitors" is so great, why wouldn't they want to be "Greenland 2"? |

I was attending Oklahoma State University. I was working out in the gym doing sit-ups. There were about 5 cheerleaders nearby doing various exercises. On about the 3rd sit-up my ass blew the biggest raspberry on the plastic mat. The sound echoed throughout the gym. Everything went silent. Nothing. I slowly walked out. My face was on fire. I got to the parking lot and realized that I had left my water bottle and bag in the gym. I bought a new water bottle and bag the next day.
I understand Carmen. I loved this episode. The guests are wonderful people and you should follow their instagram accounts. |
