That is what i want to happen, 4K members and just a few of us idiots posting.

I want more idiots to join us. On the old comment board on libsyn, flaming was easy and rampant. I think here there is less flaming and more good buddy joking.

Even coconut and mikey still hang around after getting their balls/ovaries busted. I just hope the new people try out a few post, get they patented fiuuucck Yooou and keep on trucking.

Who the fuck picked, "I think my point would not get across and I would be flamed." What, are you some kind of fucking sissy? Post whatever the fuck's on your mind and don't worry about what the losers on this board think. Fuckin' weak ass bitch. Go comb your hair.

I'm posting a little more frequently this week, but in general not a lot of the topics are of interest to me.
About 1 in 5 or 6 will get my attention, and if they do not necessarily so much that I care to comment.

Wow. I just noticed MichaelG and I signed up for the forum 1 month apart. He's posted about 2700 more times than me.

I actually had an extensive conversation about this topic with a friend of mine about six months ago. It wasn't about forums, but about blogs, and why people tend to not comment.

It relates in that we came to the conclusion that most people on the internet are lurkers who are just interested in staying up to date on the information, but feel awkward about interacting through something that pretty much resembles a television set.

I find it interesting that there are 4000+ users on this board and maybe less than 200 that post at all, and less than 50 that post regularly. What are the others doing? They come to find out what's going on with KatG, and then they leave. Is it wrong? I don't think so. They just want to stay up on what's happening with their favourite (or not) podcast.

It annoys me that even my family doesn't leave comments on my blogs. I'm typing this shit out, you're reading it, and you have nothing to say? Their answer... Well, we can just call you. The point is that they don't, or I don't, and I have to call all of you to pass on the message, or I can just make one post. So you want to know how I'm doing? Check the blog! I'm not going to tell each and every one of you the same thing over and over. It's boring and a waste of energy.

Anyway, it's not totally the same, but it does relate. Lurkers happen and they should be entitled to. It would make the board that much better if they did decide to post more often, though.
