Getting summer body ready

Is anybody else starting to get their summer bodies ready?

I am single for the first time since I left the Marine Corps in 2002. I have always been in good shape, but I was never able to stay in tip top shape like my high school football and military days because of marriage and kids and work. Now I have the opportunity to really push myself and I am super motivated. I am on week 4 of this workout, I'm eating healthy, and I am looking into a Krav Maga self defense class(for the cardio and I love hand to hand combat) at a local gym.

Im just curious if and how other people are getting ready to look their best. Also don't forget, its never to early to start shaping up for the hottest guy and girl comp later this year.

I'd just like to say that Krav Maga is not self defense, it's fucking crazy.

I put on 20 pounds over the past year, so that's my summer goal too.

I've looked into Krav Maga too (a local gun store is offering lessons). But...cardio? Fighting is probably the most anaerobic thing you can do, especially when you're looking throat punch somebody as quickly as you can.

After I went away to college I put on about 35 lbs. I had promised myself if I could get rid of 10 of them just on dieting, I'd join a gym. I figured if I couldn't get the food part right, the gym wasn't going to last.

As of 3 weeks ago I hit my goal and have about 20 more lbs to go. I joined up with a friend who has been going for about 6 months. We're going 5 days a week and doing different muscle groups each day + 40 min of cardio.

Very proud of it so far but it's just the beginning. There's a lot of work to go.

Norwegian_Fag- I consider it self defense, in as much as the best defense is a good offense
My favorite Krav Maga video is this one, especially when he climbs up on peoples shoulders like a monkey.

DWarrior- from the wiki page, "Basic training is a mixed aerobic and anaerobic workout."

bluecrucial-I agree, I am finally eating right, chicken, low fat ground beef, tuna (which is very bland to me, but I make my self eat it). The cool thing is, once you start seeing results, fat loss and muscle, it just starts snowballing and its gets easier to motivate yourself.

Summer, winter, whenever. Always trying to keep fit throughout the year. Aside from all the healthful advantages, you never know who's looking at you.

After seeing Elvis's KATG video, which was fucking awesome and seeing the great shape he is in now, I am defiantly motivated. He is a stud.

I'm in!

Unfortunately, there's no gym out here in the sticks. Thankfully, my dad bought the P90x DVD series a while back, so I'm starting it next week.

Also, if following Elvis on twitter isn't getting you motivated, then you can't be helped. That guy is KILLER! What a badass.
