I thought that he'd said who he was before or during the pinkie torture scene. He's the brother of the guy who Jaime killed when he was in that cage, the kid he strangled (which also makes him the son of the old dude who Rob (?) beheaded?) That's what I was told but if that's what it is, I can't see why he's got it in so bad for Greyjoy, wouldn't the enemy of his enemy be his friend?

I disagree, you're assuming that the payoff of this is the reveal of the torturers identity, it's not. The importance is the change that theons character goes through, its not a change that could've happened in just 1 or two episodes, it had to last most of the season.
