If the car is financed...the finance company will probably insist you fix it if it is not totaled out. If you own it outright...You can have the check made out to you and see if you can negotiate a lower price or just buy something else. I have hade the misfortune to be in both places before. You never feel whole.
On the other hand....Maybe it is time for a change? A down payment on a used Ferrari? |

Insurance may just total the car.
if it cost 5 grand to fix and the car is worth 8, the will consider it a loss and total the car. If they do fix it, ask them if they will insure it after the fact. |
