Need Your Advice about joining Military

Agreed, but the Air Force promotion system and speed of promotions it totally a downer.

I joined the Army for the college money, and 12 yrs later still no college, still in the Army, wearing SFC- E7, came in at 18, as an E1. The Army has been nothing but good to me

Research for what you want to do.

Remember, the AF and the Marines can not guantee you a job, like the Army can. If there is something that you really want to do, research it, and see what it is like in the Army, and Air Force.

Basic is a mental thing, you can go at any age, there are 35 yr old men and women going through basic, cause they have a strong mind. You dont need a strong body, just a stong mind. If you have a strong mind, your body will follow.

I Retired from the US Navy back in 2001. I loved it most of the time. It is tough on families. It is tough on any relationship. I don't know about if getting you degree is better or not. I didn't get a degree. But, I have only so many skills from the Navy that transfered to a Civilian Job. If you can try to get into a ROTC program. Free Tuition a degree and get paid to go to college. I am not sure how long you have to stay in but it used to be six years after college to pay for the "free" degree. Officer pay starting out is
not too bad (well better that starting enlisted)

I have never Killed a baby. I have killed other people trying to kill me. I have defended my Country. I was at the time and am still willing to give my life for my Country. I have seen too many "Bad" areas of this World not to Thank GOD that I live in a country that has the freedoms I cherish. I think that for some people it is a right choice to join the military. It might be that some people can't afford college. It might be they just want to give back to the previous generation that fought in World War 2 to give them the right to fight for their country later.(instead of being under Japan or Germany rule)
For some people it is a need to join the Armed Services.
