really subtle body language or habit?
I'm probably going to risk being made fun of, but whatevs.
This question is going out mostly to the ladies, as it applies primarily to owners of vaginas. Dudes are relatively easy to figure out, and honestly, don't really give a shit about subtle body language (my experience), and really don't engage in this particular behaviour I'm interested in. And honestly, even though I'm a girl, sometimes I really don't get other girls. I've noticed this in the past and it bothered me but I didn't really know why, and I thought it was just me being neurotic (likely). This happened twice in the past week and I find it curious: women brushing lint off their clothes towards me or taking off strands of hair and like, dumping it in between us. I don't believe they're aware of it. Both times I was in a group of strangers (lecture hall, meeting), and with these women, strangers both of them, before the dumpage, we had exchanged small talk. I had thought the small talk was rather pleasant. The lint and hair strand flingy thing happened when we had been listening to people drone on and on... The characteristics of these women: articulate, "polite", a little reserved, attractive, kinda WASP-y etc. So, I know it's a weird question... but it's like, stop flicking your hair and lint on me, you know? Does anyone else have this happen to you? What is your impression of what they're saying? Do you remember doing it to other people and what is your feeling towards them or your primary emotion at the time? And why don't you get a goddamn lint roller or think twice before you sprinkle your dead body cells onto a complete stranger? I could be reading a lot into this but that's what I do. |

They are just grooming. Most primate species engage in social grooming during casual interactions so your brief, friendly conversations are probably triggering the same response in these women. Next time just pick their lint for them.

I do this all the time. I'm constantly picking at or pulling or pushing my clothes. Partially because I hate clothes, and fitget in them all the time, but also because I seem to attract random particles of office debris, like paper bits and eraser bits and whatever else. I'm a mess.
I have considered if I'm offending others once or twice, especially if someone makes a face (although that usually just makes me think they're stuck up.) But really, there's no ulterior motive, just me trying not to encourage my Katamari Damacy superpowers. |

interesting observation...
I would think it is a passive aggressive move on her behave if she plucked or brushed herself disdainfully /accusingly as if you had deposited the debris on her on purpose and she couldn't wait to get it off of her. Otherwise it was an unconscious act of primping and preening out of boredom. If you are uncomfortable with it, I suggest plucking and brushing the debris off disdainfully in her direction...she'll get the message. |

I don't think those are chimps, Deaderest. But I see your point. The question is: so would it be best if I eat what I picked? (lint, bugs that were on her clothes.. Not out of her pussy you weirdos). Cuz it would be really polite, I think. Like I said, I have some difficulties reading girls and I'm curious if that behaviour would be considered "over-doing it". I might be serious about this.
