Then you don't have to log in as your registered username, but no one else can use your registered username either. But you can log in as an Unregistered name aswell if you want. I've seen this in other websites chat's before too.

When i responded to your reply the intent was to say, can you argue against my idea, not against me making a few gramatical errors. I was not challenging you to be an asshole further, I guess this was a misunderstanding.

I was chatting about this subject a few weeks ago. It's not some "huge" issue, but it is unnerving when it happens to you. One day I went into chat and there was "Annie" with the same avatar that I generally use. Same name and avatar? Could be a coincidence, although there is a small chance of it.

Plus, when I went in and started talking - the person said one more thing and high-tailed it out of there. I guess they had been in there talking about how much they like porn.

Same name? Same avatar? Just happens to leave when I get there?

Although it could have been an innocent coincidence, it didn't feel like it. I'm on the forums/chat often and have never seen another "annie", even on live chat Fridays. So yeah - it would be great to have the option to make your login your own.

It mentions several times how to give only "registered members" certain abilities, like the ability to create new rooms. In light of this evidence, I confidently say that yes, it is in fact possible to have registered users in RealChat.

heh, yah. I didn't meen to make it sound like quite as big an issue as I implied in the first post, I just think it's worth looking into.

Though after posting this thread I bet it'll end up a bigger issue for me...

It is not currently a big issue, but I am certain that once it becomes a problem Keith will find a way to implement it.

On that page it says how you can link the chat to the forums database or whatnot, so the names that are used here will be the same ones used on the chat.

Now this isn't there fault of course, they were just some person named Jennifer who went onto the KATG chat, but this is quite a problem. If someone else signs on and see's Jennifer, they'll assume their me, and this is a significant issue. What's to stop people from signing on the chat as someone else and delibratly being an ass, and other such things.
I think the chat really needs some way of having registerable usernames, so people can't pretend to be others or mistake eachother for others.
I agree. Today there were about 10 different "Masterminds", one of them had my exact name. The current chat grinds my gears.
