want to shut those assholes up in the movie theater?

Well you can't. But AMC theaters is trying. I went to a movie this afternoon and with the tickets they were handing out this pamplet. It described their new program where you can basically be a snitch for them.

How it works is they give you a beeper type of device and if someone is being distracting you push the button and it alerts an usher. They come to the theater and see if it is indeed a disturbance and then deal with it.

Now we all know this will never work, people will push the thing for stuff that isn't a disturbance, the "crying wolf" effect, or if there is a disturbance the usher won't be able to see or hear it. Nice that someone is trying something though.

I prefer blocking all cell signals or declaring mob rule inside all theaters. Or, like I did today when this asshole dad let his 2 year old play in the aisle during the whole movie and tap the railing with a coin constantly...hit him in the back of a head with a penny. Fucking assholes.

I'd just like to shut up this friend that comes over to watch a movie and talks the whole fucking time.

It's the TV! They can't hear you!

The only time it is acceptable to talk/yell at the TV is when the Sopranos is on; I consider it my civic duty to call Tony's sister Janice a bitch and flip her off every single time she is on-screen.

They make cell phone jammers; why don't they use them in theaters. They have them in the larger teaching auditoriums in colleges, so I know thay can do it for specific areas. Regal, AMC, Century, and all the other ones: Get on the fuckin' ball.

I think a more aggressive approach needs to be taken, like having seats that shock the shit out of you when you're too loud. Seeing a mouthy fucker get shocked may end up being more entertaining than the movie you paid to watch. Win win.

They could have movie-goers "sponser a seat." You put up $? and the theater puts a shock device in a random seat. The people at the theater wouldn't know which seats were safe and would stay relatively quiet out of fear. Once the theater got all its seats outfitted it could advertise "Shock systems on every seat!" to boost attendance, since customers could be assured a distraction-free film experience.

I heard something a while back about these microscopic tube-like particles in a rock quarry in Utah that will block things like cell phone reception, wi-fi and other things. Apparently various theater companies like Pacific, AMC, Regal and others are trying to purchase the stuff and put it in their new or re-designed theaters to prevent cell conversations in movies. If this is the case, good to them. If not...GET ON IT!

Quite a few casinos use cell-phone jammers, mainly to cut down on cheating. It would be nice to see the tactic mirrored in cinemas. That and if someone is caught being a douche, they are banned from the cinema.

That will teach the black women a lesson.

Too many people saying it's an infringement on their rights I'm guessing.

what's worse than people talking during a movie are the people that recite the movie while it's going. now i'm all for movie quotes. hell...i could probably carry an entire conversation in "the big lebowski" movie quotes. but goddamn...i'm not so big of a geek that i'd ruin someone else's enjoyment of it by quoting it as it's going. that's just too far.
