Saw Blackfish last night. Doco about keeping Orcas in captivity. I don't need realistic films about how badly we're treating the planet and other creatures here. I'm depressed and cynical enough. But along with Dean From Australia I saddled up for this.
Captivating and utterly memorable. If I become a Killer Whale (an Orca) I'll definitely avoid capture if possible.

I've long been a casual fan of anime and have jumped in with a few series over the years.

A new series has been airing on Australian TV just recently and I fell into it by accident.

Attack on Titan is a 2013 anime series based on the manga by Hajime Isayama serialized in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine.

It is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the Titans, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason.

The story centers around Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa, and their friend Armin, whose lives are changed forever after a large Titan breaches the wall of their home town. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren and his friends join the Scout Regiment, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans at the front lines.

It is quite possibly the most beautifully realized animated feature I've seen in a long time.

Everything from the animation, production design, characters and story is brilliant and I've quickly fallen in love with it.

Japanese company Figma has released a number of figures from the series and I couldn't resist tracking one down this past week. They are a 6 inch figurine and, like the show, they are seriously awesome.

The following video review is a great show case of the figure I bought so I'll let it speak for me.

Holy. Fuck. This is awesome! My daughter loves this anime stuff. Hope there's a torrent or copy around.

My daughter and I saw Big Hero 6. Personally, I thought it was insanely predictable and boring in the middle, but she's 12 and loved it. It is really cute and does have some big laughs. If you have kids; it's worth seeing.

I did think the bad guy was super badass. He reminded me of an even more impressive, Japanese-style Doc Oc. They could easily make a comic book and/ or another movie around that villain.

It really is a kick arse series.

Both seasons (25 episodes) are available on DVD and Blu Ray and you can download the series via iTunes and Google Play.

I've been watching the Japanese version with English subtitles on SBS2's On Demand app but the discs and digital downloads come with English audio. The English voice acting is cool enough but I've actually preferred the Japanese voices/English subtitles. I think it's because of the way the lines are delivered.

There are plenty of other "sources" for the series as well.

Continuing my little John Carpenter Film Fest.

Ghosts Of Mars.

Although Pam Grier as a lesbian head copper did not sway at all. This flick gas a cookiness about it that's appealing.

Sort of Mad Max meets Pitch Black.

This movie had me at "John Stewart." Looking forward to it. Anyone seen it yet? The only problem I can foresee is Stewart maybe making such a serious film...too joke-y?

Trailer Park Boys: Live At The North Pole.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416177208.464378.jpg

The boys are in Minneapolis North Pole to put on a show for all of Santa Jesus God's elps and for Ricky to apologize to Santa for clocking him last year on Christmas. It's not his fault he thought he was a Mall Santa. Those Mall Santa guys are greasy fucking bastards.

I loved it. It was hilarious as usual. Netflix is full of great TPB movies/episodes if anyone has been living in the woods with the fucking samsquanches and doesn't know about these guys.
