i gotta say something about jeet kune do since that's what i'm taking: jeet kune do is more of a fighting philosophy than it is a style. it uses whatever works to get the job done and pulls from any art that is effective for what you're trying to do. if you have a lead pipe handy...use it. they teach from martial arts such as kali to understand how to use said pipe. they teach from muy thai, kali, silat, savate, brazilian ju-jitsu, wing chun...the list goes on. basically, whatever has practical application to a real world scenario, they'll learn it and use it. it attempts to be a philosophy that transcends limits by preparing for any situation by using whatever techniques work no matter where it comes from.
