I think his buddy might have done some research into how to deal with anxiety before he gave him that bear hug.
There are quite a few studies showing that 'deep pressure stimulation' can help switch your nervous system into a more calm state. A firm hug/massage, a therapy dog trained to lay on you or weighted blankets all seem to work. Apparently it even works for pets - there are 'thunder shirts' for dogs that are snug vests that advertise to help calm animals down. |

The Power of Now is mentioned in the documentary about former guest Eddie Pepitone - The Bitter Buddha - another podcaster I listen to - Greg Fitzimmons talks about it a lot too. I found it beneficial in the very short term but for me, nothing in the self-help world is a lasting help. So ready for Chemda to become the next big name in New Age healing!
Tolle was also my intro to mantra music/kirtan, which helps me calm down occasionally. I expressed a hope that Chemda would record a chant album back when the Krishna music thing seemed to be in interest for her. |
