That's how it came across to me. Like this documentary is for educating people but that doesn't mean when you see Laverne Cox in person you can just run up on her and ask her about her gender reassignment surgery. Or even if she's a guest on your show she might feel offended by you asking.

THIS! The question I have is why is it so hard to acknowledge this part. Yes this woman was a horrible interview but that all got overshadowed by the transphobic question. You could have an amazing interview with a Rod but as soon as you call him a nigga I am out. As a black woman I get this. I haven't heard Keith acknowledge the transphobia of the genitals question at all and that's the part that sent the interview way off the rails for me. Why can't both exist. Julia was a Horrible interview AND the question was transphobic. Maybe that's tew much of a grey area.

I listened to last week and thought about what she did. Absolutely she didn’t learn anything about the show and was ignorant herself.
On the other hand, I felt the fear in her voice and felt emphatic.
She was really afraid, I think because of terrible experiences in the past.

I disagree that Keith’s question was transphobic. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion.

I think only a trans person can decide that.
Same as only a person of color can decide if a behavior is racist or not. I, a white person might think something is totally fine, because of my own blind spots.

I said that I felt for her, because I thought she was afraid and has made terrible experiences in the past for sure.
