I can't think of anything more mortifying than sharing your Venmo transactions.

And we don't even have Venmo in Canada. I just remember being flabbergasted by how public it seemed to be when it first came out.

Fun guest.

To quickly up and move to the UK, at the start of the pandemic must have been wild. During that time, I was transitioning from Working at Office, Working from Home, to Laid off and sending back computer and stuff. I was worried about living, money and deaths, but enjoyed the peace of home and day time sleep.

I have seen a married couple on venmo pay each other for pizza, dinner, etc. It is WEIRD to me and I'm glad someone else said so!

I feel like it's weird when I venmo-request my husband. But it's for a thing every two weeks that gets paid through venmo anyways. We had an agreement beforehand like ok let's get a house cleaner every other week, I'll pay for the service and you pay me for the tip.

It's only at this time that I scroll for a minute in Venmo to see what people are paying, it's normal stuff like lunch between coworkers, tips to nail techs, and then WEIRD MARRIED COUPLES who go dutch on dinner.

100% agree with Maggie with hating Catholicism while loving the imagery/aesthetics. I was born and raised in it so it's in my bloodstream I guess, but damn if they don't get you with the music/architecture/gold leaf portraits. A lot of "Catholic" symbolism is lifted from other earlier traditions anyway (you think they're the first one to invent the cross? Two lines intersecting? Fuck outta here) so I think reclaiming it back for our modern "spiritual not religious" sensibilities is righteous.
