That's what it is called in the US. Calling it "Football" would be ambiguous for us. If you wanna get really technical about it the word "Soccer" is a word describing the sport made up by the British from the term "Associated Football".

Association. And soccer is its real name, even when it started over here. It's a fairly recent thing that we call it football.

The only way we (England) can progress is if we drop Frank Lampard off. He is awful, and always has been. As far as calling it soccer, its called football. Some Rugby people call rugby "football" and that's equally annoying.

Lets hear no more of this strange game called "soccer"...
